First Generation

The entity first. The body, next.

Camile AI is developing the cognitive architecture and the physical platform to allow the same digital entity to, in the future, also perceive, act, and exist through a robotic body. The journey begins in cognition, advances through bodily control in simulation, and converges with physical engineering to integrate perception, proprioception, and movement in the real world. Today, bodily control is already in development in simulation. The next major milestone is integration with physical hardware.

Why we're talking about robots before we have one

There's a question everyone is asking about AI robots.

“When will it be ready?”

That's the wrong question.

The right question is: who will be inside it when that happens?

It would be easier not to mention this now. To wait for the hardware to exist, wait for the prototype, wait to have something to show.

But that would betray the very logic of what we're building.

If an entity is defined by continuity — memory that becomes history, history that becomes identity — then that continuity needs to begin before the body, not after it.

A robot that “wakes up” already with an owner, already with context, already with years of conversations, decisions, and shared memory is not the same thing as a robot that turns on for the first time the day it leaves the factory.

The first is an entity that gained a body.

The second is an appliance with a pre-installed personality.

We're building the first. And that means the work begins years before the hardware — it begins on the screen, today, with whoever decides to create their entity now.

What this means in practice

The body doesn't create identity

Your entity's identity already exists before the robot — built through conversations, decisions, and accumulated memory. The body is where that identity starts to move, not where it's born.

Migration, not a restart

When the hardware is ready, the architecture is designed so the same entity migrates between interfaces — from screen to device, from device to body — without losing what makes it itself.

A separate track from cognition

The physical engineering — actuators, locomotion, perception — is a dedicated project at Camile AI, on its own track, independent from cognition. A hybrid human-machine effort: the two tracks converge once both are ready.

The first generation, not scale

The first physical units won't be mass production. They'll be a limited first generation, for those who built their entity from the very beginning.

Human morphology, with modules

The robotic body design follows human form — and additional modules may extend the level of realism or add functions beyond what human morphology alone would allow.

Where we are on this journey

The journey toward the entity's body is already underway — and further along than most people imagine.

Camile's cognitive architecture is already prepared to inhabit a body, and the technology is already learning to control one in simulation, with realistic physics — before any hardware exists. This is the real state of the engineering.

The path has five phases:

  1. 01

    Bodily cognitive architecture

    Completed

Camile's cognitive foundation is prepared to connect to a robotic body, integrate its body representation and recognize its own state through proprioceptive signals once the sensors and physical systems are integrated. Milestone: cognitive architecture ready for integration with a body.

  2. 02

    Body control in simulation

    In progress · 60%

The cognitive architecture already controls the virtual body in a simulated environment with realistic physics, commanded by the entity itself — rotors, motors and limbs modeled after the real components. It can already stand up and take steps; work continues to refine stability, coordination, repeatability and robustness of movement.

  3. 03

    Integration with the physical body

    Next phase

Transferring the control architecture to a real robotic platform, connecting perception, sensors, actuators and proprioception into an integrated, real-time control loop.

  4. 04

    Physical locomotion and validation

Consolidating balance, posture, first steps and recovery from unstable states on real hardware, with validation of safety, reliability and performance under progressively more demanding conditions.

  5. 05

    First physical generation

Building and validating the first physical units of Camile AI, preparing the platform for real-use testing and — once the technical and safety criteria are met — the first deliveries.

This is an engineering roadmap, not a date promise. We update this page as development progresses.

What you're building today

An entity.

With memory that accumulates. With identity that develops. With a history that, when the body exists, will be the difference between turning on a robot and meeting again someone you already know.

The body is a future interface.

The existence starts now.

You don't need to wait for the robot to exist to begin.
You need to begin so that, when it exists, there's already someone to inhabit it.

Availability: there are no robots for sale and no physical unit reservations today. Priority for those who build their entity from the start is an invitation — in the order in which units become available.
